had a fineee day today~
deviance lecture was funnier than usual partly becos of the stuff we learnt.
and i actually tot the reading's gonna be fun but it gave me headache after reading like 5 pages of it zZz.

hahas..
anyway he was teaching us the origins of deviance from the positivist side which are an absurd bunch of people & the reason why pple are divided and discrimminated becos of their races/ gender.

the things Lombroso mentioned was:
- crimminals are defined in terms of biological traits (huh?)
e.g: protuded jaw, extremely long arms, nose twisted bent/ flattened, multiple fingers/toes etc.
mostly dealing with deformity lOlx.
- he actually wanted doctors,psychiatrists and psychologists to identify such pple & throw them into prison lOlx..
- he felt that the Negro race (blacks) were inferior to the Whites & they had to become slaves because it is a therapeutic necessity for the Blacks & medical responsibility for the Whites (like wth?)

i bet this is the most absurd thing i've heard from positivist criminology by
Pollack (1958):
- Women/ women crimminals are born liars because...
i really wonder how this came in: they can fake orgasm while men can't.

OMG. ahah i think they're desperate to pinpoint some fault at us females.

- that women are born to be victimized, hence male violence is a therapeutic neccessity?!?!

soOo...
the lecturer showed us an example of how such things are relevant in today's life as well (can u believe it? we're still judged by how we loOk lOlx.)
my lecturer whose an Indian told his story:

L: u noe how when we're around the neighbourhood, we dun wear our Gucci...we wear t-shirt and shorts. I was walking around the neighbourhood when i saw the police patrol car passed by and they actually saw me from the rear view mirror & step brake (i saw the brake lights!).

L: I see them looking at me so i walked briskly (like obviously he created more suspicion lOlx.) away from them.

*policeman A came out *

A: where are you going?

L: There *points front*

A: There where!? *increasing suspicion*

L: I'm going back to my home

A: Can i see your work permit? (lOlx)

L: I don't have a work permit

at this time, policeman B was startled and came out too.

L: But i got singaporean nric

Psy tutorial was okie..hahas..
it's at my prev sem's Lit classroom.
Tutor was funny..he's south asian toO but he's different from the past experiences i had with south asian tutors..
and he gives breaks! whEe..

and he actually photocopied his tutor's outline for the lesson and gave it to us lOlx.
and we actually ended later than 6pm & had to mark attendance outside..
still, we're not done with our tutorial yet. lOlx..

went jogging with Sixiang..
met sx's roommate which i forgot wad he's called lOlx..
we actually chatted without knowing each other's name.

his hostel is TERRIBLE.
i was quite freaked out.
i saw a fat cockroach in the guy's toilet entrance *eeEk*, a black furry RAT hiding at one of the corners *EEKK* & a guy hanging around the porch with only a pale blue towel lOlx..apparently he just came out from the toilet cos his body was still drenched.

but when he saw me, he sort of slowly whizz away lOlx.

running in the evenings are good.
coOl, breezy & lesser people~

i didn't noe he went to perm his hair again.
this time i think it's toO overboard cos his str8 hair makes the curly hair extremely curly and dry lOlx.
these pple ought to be shot when they have soft shiny straight black strands.

instead they want it to be dry frizzy and curly.

it's that time of the sem again!
tutorials...zZz.
had my 1st try ytd (3 lects+ 1 hr tut in 10 hrs)...

result?
i sleep at 11pm woke up @ 6am..
and had a 4 hrs long afternoOn nap (the kind where u can't make ur eyes open the moment u close them) today.
OMG. hahas..

soO tt's a total of *counts* 11hrs
hMm...
usually i can survive the day with 6-7hrs of sleep.

i was even on the verge of dozing off in every lect (except psy becos it was much more interesting lOlx.)
nm lect was exceptionally dry & nm tut was worse..
my classroOm was back at my prev SN class..
i wondered whether tt classroOm is cursed..lOlx cos the tutor is another sucky one..in fact suckier.

even if lecturers are interesting and full of fun, the tutorial spoils everything.
when we entered the classroom, everyone was sitting quietly in their seats & the tutor wore a black face..
i tot i was late man hahas..
in fact we were on time.

subsequently, i was scolded by her twice in tt hr for whispering to my fren abt some nm stuff when she's toking/ a person was toking...oOps.
then every time she did tt, everyone went even more quiet...
she asked some questions & no one would be willing to answer..
and she complained twice that she's not getting response from us and that we should learn to speak out loud and be willing to share our ideas.

before the class ended, she mentioned that every tutorial is worth 2 pts.
she told us that if we are more than 15 mins late, she's going to take it we're absent even if we participate actively in the class group discussions...and that she was not the one who stated the rule but the faculty's.

the atmosphere was stifling throughout except when we were discussing in groups and the group mates were friendly ( the dark room gave the dreary feeling i guess.. i dunno why that only the front lights were on) & i felt like a sec skoO kid again..
getting caught twice for whispering for 5 secs.
lOlx.
and i tot nm is supposed 2 b interactive and full of noises.

but there're parts of tutorial that's coOl..
like she's doing a master thesis on lesbianism in movies shown in India..
soO i guess it's closely tied with her own culture's perception on lesbianism~
and there're about 7 foreign exchange students~
and alot of 3rd yr biz students omg. hahas.

ohoh..
tml is psy tut.
wonder wad are we going to do..
cos there's no instructions except that we dun have to bring/ prepare anything lOlx..

and i'm going to run tml~
maybe we should hav weekly sports gatherings pple.
then mayb we can chill and have steamboat on some of these weeks/ days~

tml is the last ep of my fave show Jumong..
sObx and it's kinda a sad ending~
Jumong's love life is like a shipwreck shall i say
which is kinda sad for a man who has everything. lOlx.

Here's his love life in summary:

Jumong played by Song Il Gook

Jumong was formerly a prince of a country Bu Yeo, brought up by his foster father King Geum Wa & his real mother Lady Yuh-Hwa..

Soseno played by Han Hye Jin
When he was a prince, he met Soseono, daughter of a merchant trade & Chief of a tribe & fell in love with her.
If I'm Jumong I will love her very much toO lOlx.
She is a extremely beautiful, capable, strong & smart girl.

However, after a war, Jumong was reported missing & or even dead..
Soseono who was also admired by Jumong's brother Dae-Soh wanted to marry her (and even forced her to or he'll wipe out her tribe).

She had no choice but to marry her own bodyguard because she still griefs for Jumong and she clearly does not want an evil guy as her husband.

Yesoya played by Song Ji Hyo
Jumong was able to get back to the palace many months later due to the help of a tribal chief's daugher, Yesoya (played by Goong's supporting actress who was Shin's ex lover) who saved him and whose father was later killed by rebels.

soO in order to repay her kindness and Jumong was all she had, Jumong brought her back to Bu Yeo Palace & when he found out Soseono was already married, he married Yesoya..

OMG.

oOkie.

Many stuff happened but in short, Jumong decided to embark on a quest to recover the lost lands of Korea (to fulfill's his biological father's dream) which were at that time owned by the Han empire.

Feeling increasingly insecure, the King Geum Wa decided to hold his mother, Yesoya & Yuri (Jumong's son) hostage on the pretext of protecting them.

soO Jumong built his empire with the help of Soseono (who at that time already had 2 children and her husband had died). When he founded Gogouryeo, his mother had already died and Yesoya & Yuri was reported dead when they tried to escape the Bu Yeo palace.In order to not break the 2 opposing ends (his army & Soseno's army), Jumong married his ex-lover.

10 yrs past and nearing the end of the show, Yesoya and Yuri was found. Soseono wants to give up her title as the Queen to Yesoya (Soseono is doing something women today won't be able: giving up the husband to another woman)who refuses because without her, Gogouryeo wouldn't be what it is today.

Okie the ending sucks.
After the war with Han empire ended and Gogouryeo was victorious, Soseono took her both sons and left the country because she knows that is the only way the country wouldn't be divided and Yesoya and Yuri wouldn't be threatened.

The giving up of the title is a tricky one as we cannot say Soseono is the 'mistress' after she is Jumong's actual lover but because he was thought to be dead, the r/s ended. However, Yesoya's Jumong's real and first wife..

lOlx.
it makes me question even in dramas, how heaven makes sport of people..
it's like marrying ur ex girlfriend whom you loved very much only to realise your dead wife is alive.

i'm so unsure as to how 2 ballot for my tutorials
i'm kiasu and want everything 2 run smoOthly..
boOhoOs.

i'll b really happy if i can answer that question
but till now i don have an idea cos skoO hasn't really start!
and i wanna be fair to psy & nm altho i like soci quite alot.

but i did start to think things thru during the social psy & soci deviance lectures..
like is Soci for me? would psy be better?
its like having 2 choose betw 3 boyfriends.
BF Soci is interesting & fun & nice
BF Psy is oso the same..so is BF Nm.

Hang out with BF Soci for about 3 mths hahas..
was very enticing & lovely
but when i discovered more of BF Soci, i realise tt he won't really give me answers..
like i'll just b analysing & understanding how the whole thing works but i won't have answers.

BF Psy may have answers but Psy is really self centered..he's just about himself & nuttin more..unlike BF Soci who cares about the world.
Psy is personal but self centered.
Soci is oso personal but he delves too much~

i dunno much about BF nm yet.
except that he can be useful & fun
but i dunno whether i'll be interested.

hahas this sounds insane after u read all this..
like WTH?

wad a week.
i feel...lost & disoriented.

i finally rmb-ed to collect my js rxn paper today
and i was sO determined to get it out of tt miserable box..
BUT..
ahHHHH..it's not where it's supposed to be.
i shld hav expected this rite?

soO i tot maybe it's all lost & was abt to ask the general office.
then i saw...Ichi sensei!
HAHAs..
actually he saw me 1st when i was walking really fast to the letterbox.
and he saw me again when i rushed back to the office counter.
he rmbs me!!!

maybe not my name.
but he rmbs the face.

Anyways i told him about it (i kept forgetting for the past mth) & he laughed.
yes...wad a nice Jap Studies tutor he is (be jealous, shawn~)
and he helped me look for it but we both have to go cos we have class in like 3 mins time ( it was 9.57am).

soO i walked to my social psy lecture..
luckily it was very near & the lecture had not started yet~
my social psy lecturer Matthew Matthews (hahs.) was a really nice person!!!
omg...
he's nt extremely funny but he's jus nice, cheeky & humorous.
and i like his voice. cos i dowan 2 fall asleep during lectures & that only way is to have lecturers that have captivating voices.
and his 1st lecture was rather interesting & the book he recommended us to buy sounds interesting & the proj he wants us to do seems interesting.

everything is interesting.lOlx.

soO i guess out of all the 5 mods this sem, this one is the one i'm most happy with for now..lOlx.

was trying to plan the perfect timetable.
Either i'm really busy or really free lOlx.
and the only day tt i'll most likely pull my hair off (u noe i can never do tt) is Monday, followed by even weeks Tuesday.
the rest odd tues, wed, fri are easier days~~~

this is if my plans and strategy goes well.

skoo was...quite boring.
haha it was an okie day.
attended 4 lects but becos of my 1 lect..it sort of made the day boring.

much to my surprise, i can have 2 pple taking wif me now.
nm was quite interesting.
i like the lecturer altho she's rather strict~
but i'm okie with the kind of qns she asked hahas..
in fact the whole bunch of them seem alright.

i attended shawn & vicki's film art..
the lecturer is so-so but the techniques dey learn are interesting..
and u get to watch film every week!
jus tt i was quite tickled by the 1st film we watched.
It was boring ass but from an artistic pt of view, it was beauty
not tt i hated it...if i'm serious & deep in thought, i may hav fallen in love wif such kinds..hahas.

Emotions was OMG boring.
mayb cos i dun hav company...
i guess it's boring cos there's jus not much action going arnd & the lecturer's an old lady..
i mean yea she's open & critical abt the things she see..but it's still boring.
60% came from the fact i didn't had anyone to tok to i guess lOlx.

Psych was gay.
hahas..the lecturer shrieks & catwalks & flaunts off certain behaviour that i regard as rather ah kua.
but he's funny not becos of all those things but becos he cracks nice jokes & show us quite interesting stuff.
BUT BUt the boring comes when i see all the things i have to learn
& apparently Jiahao carn really talk in lect..
but this lect wasn't boring.

in fact i'm happiest with this lect.
i am constantly intrigued & entertained even tho he's telling us names & history of founders of different aspects and psy revolutions omg. ahhas..

this is 1 thing i really have 2 stab myself.
i brought the word 'js rxn paper'4 times today and i still forgot to collect it..
arghX. it's been like a mth..
wonder whether it's still there lOrx.

tml is the start of SCHOOL...arghXxx..
i'm having a lil PSB (pre schooling blues)..
like a pri 1 kid going to a foreign school,meeting foreign pple & having foreign classes...then the kid will cry for mummy.

ookie i won't cry.
but i'll b like the kid: the feeling of new environments and having to face it all by myself.

i'm nt a fan of being all by myself..
not that i love crowds.
but familiarity. comfort.
yes comfort.
CRAP i feel old.haha...
the last time i tok abt comfort & peace, i felt like a granny.

wanted to watch grey's anatomy but then decided to blog.
ohh now i'm hooked on grey's..
it's like comfort food (or comfort tv) to me..
somehow it gives off the same feeling when pple hav their fav choc/sweets/chips when dey need something to bring them peace..

yes i use the word peace.
Watching grey's anatomy brings peace which is a good & stable feeling..
my emotions hav been up & down lately..
trying to settle down & perhaps face the facts before they come right hitting me on the face as if i didn't anticipate those things..

hang out with vt, lydia & juhiang ytd..
i ate marche the 3rd time in 13mths
omgg..hahas..
i spend the least ytd but had the most amt of calories (lots of carbos & sugars involved)
not that i'm one who counts calories but becos for those 13 mths i haven't really been exercising..im starting to be a health freak.

i have to do some exercise before i become the typical "i wanna go on a salad'' diet scrawny girl.
in fact i'm beginning to like some vegetables...noOOoooO!!!
soO Anita let us plan our schedules fast!!

and i wanted to save more $$ toO.
at Pacific Cafe, i tried to save 50cents by ordering that caramel steamed milk instead of caramel latte.
arghX. ju hiang said it tasted like cheap ice cream...hahas..

had fun ytd tho.
we spent time catching up on our past (a nicer term for wad we're doing lOlx) & snapping senseless pictures..
vivo was the quietest ytd hahas..
that was the first time i had seats to choose from when i need to get smth to eat.

i think i'm growing very old.
i was talking abt comfort food & tv..
then for the last few times i entered coffee places, mostly what i've ordered are hot beverages...ahHhh.
but hot ones bring more delight than iced drinks..
and dey go well with gossiping sessions lOlx.

oh hO school is starting soon.
i hav 2 mods which i have to face this brave new world by myself.
somehow i dun like the tot of going to nm lectures alone..
it's disturbing. ack.
soO i really wish there'll b someone who can go nm lectures at least for the first one or two times *hint hint*

i'm going to hav a new 'best fren' soon..most prob going with him for 3 out of 5 lects..not tt we planned this!
omg..haha i didn't expect him to take the exact same mods (except for psy we sort of discuss we wanted to do them)

I feel i've nt written meaningful stuff lOlx.
soO here's my reflections for 2007 and resolution for 2008

Milestones in 2007:
- worked for the 1st time (hence my 1st paycheck)
- got into freedom skoO! (no fixed timetables, no fixed subs & no fixed frens sighs.)
- went to Japan
- met my 1st batch of uni frens (i'm kinda anti-social soO tt's quite impt to me)
- Jumong (the first time i love a korean drama to bits)

Resolutions in 2008:
- to exercise (omg. i really need and have to)
- to not spend unecessarily
- to work harder (nt tt i was lazy last year)
- to be true to my dreams & myself
- to have deeper relationships with pple

i'm sure some of u noe while we were having our heated conversation tt i mentioned the Singapore Flyer.
yes yes,my mum's company is offering discounts @$21 for adults (U.P: S$29.50) per person..standard 30mins ride (in air con & uv protection)

ohoh and pls let me noe peEps if u all wanna organise outing tgt or buy the tix by 15Jan becos that's when she has to pay the guys..
Tix validity period : 1 yr from 1st March 2008..that means u can hold tt ticket frm 1st march 08-1st march 09!!!

A: Like wad dear JW mentioned the duration of 30mins is tOo long...she is expecting pple to view SG and Msia @ rocket speed & therefore, the flyer will move slowly (or even slower) than the ferris wheel. Yups it's freaking high but we'll be safe in a solid capsule, not dangling in the air (unless u're scared of taking planes too). If it isn't high, then u won't even get past Sentosa & yea, it won't be the tallest observation view in the world!

Q: Only 5 tix the most
A: oOps..my mum said she can help my frens get more tix using her frens' name. After all, 1 staff is allowed 5 tix soO if she get more colleagues to let use their name, more tix!

Q:$21 bucks!!
A: the outside rate as mentioned is $29.50..that's more than 30% discount lOlx. But nuttin beats the experience on board our world's tallest "ferris wheel". We dun hav $ to book the suite @ A380 plane but surely a seat @ the flyer!

soO i took 2 mod tt i had no clue of (i was esp. apprehensive abt south asian studies) but it's nt tt bad except for the politics part acK.

the plot is exciting, the characters are great..and im actually afraid of tt sylar!!
